This Exhibition and Panel discussion of “Afterburn” is a wonderful offering very relevant to our work as psychotherapists.

From The Fire

27 May – 30 October 2015

From The Fire brings together a selection of artworks made by people who experienced the Black Saturday bushfires in 2009. This exhibition captures the destruction of the fires and the emotional aftermath, with a focus on the impact of trauma.

These artworks embody the physical and mental survival of the artists, which has been intimately connected to the changing landscape and the rebuilding of their lives and communities. From the Fire features a number of professional artists working across a range of media, as well as artworks made by children from Yarra Glen Primary School in the weeks, months and years following the fires.

Artists include Julie Goodwin, Werner Theinert, Ursula Theinhurt, Cornelia Selover, Louise Foletta, Bernadette Healy and Kate Zizys coupled with works created by primary school students from Yarra Glen Primary School.

The exhibition opens officially on 3 June 2015.
