Judith Hamilton-Smith has had a private Psychotherapy and Counselling practice in Melbourne for over 20 years.
She is a trained and registered Psychotherapist and also qualified as a Social Worker. She has an additional degree in Fine Arts.
She is registered with Medicare as a Mental Health provider.
Judith is a highly qualified and skilled practitioner who is experienced in working with a range of disorders. The include depression, anxiety, trauma, eating disorders, relational difficulties, work related stress, grief and bereavement.
Based on an initial assessment of individual needs a variety of therapeutic interventions are offered.
Short term and long term therapy is available.
Judith has a particular interest in the value of the therapeutic relationship.
She believes that within a confidential, professional relationship individuals are able to explore unconscious historical and contemporary experiences in their lives.This helps clients make sense of past and present experiences, in a way that enables behavioural change to take place.
With a training in Somatic psychotherapy Judith has a specialist understanding of physical disorders and the capacity of the body to carry the burden of emotional trauma.
She has experience in both public and private sectors.
Judith is a member of the AASW and ASPA and is also a registered Mental Health practitioner with Medicare. Training, ethics and standards of practice are therefore regulated.
She has a strong commitment to ongoing professional education.
Professional supervision is offered for Psychotherapy and Counselling practitioners.
