This is an example of the ASPA Melbourne Professional Development Series 2014: 4 October 2014
In August 2014, The Australian Childhood Foundation provided an opportunity for health practitioners to come together at the Childhood Trauma Conference 2014. The cast of international speakers (including Dan Siegel,
Pat Ogden, Allan Schore, Ed Tronick and Stephen Porges) presented sessions and facilitated master classes for 2000 eager participants in person and many more virtually.
The topics ranged from the Polyvagal Theory and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy along with body aware approaches and trauma informed interventions; concepts that are certainly foundational to the way ASPA members work with clients.
In the PD session, Peter will provide a synopsis of some of the content provided at the conference. This will provide a flavour of what the conference was about. Other attendees of the conference will also be invited to share their perspectives. The second part of the session will be a chance to explore what this conference may mean for all of us in the context of our work and how we (as a body of practitioners) can ensure we are included in a meaningful way in the paradigm shift to a more relationally embodied way.
